Sprint Carbon Fibre Mudguard

Last modified 08/06/03

This is the Sprint mudguard from Sprint Manufacturing - England. It's a full length mudguard made from Carbon Fibre. It will help preserve your paint from damage and keep the front of the bike clean.

As you can see it's beautifully made, thin, light and very strong, With the bike on the stand it extends  2 inches below the belly pan.

Fitting is very easy, remove the 4 Allan screws from the front section of the guard remove it and store it safely. There is only the centre bolt to remove to release the rear section (10mm open ended spanner) with the bolt out drop the guard on to the wheel and rotate it forward and clear of the bike.

The guard comes with a thick nylon washer to replace the metal one on the centre bolt, but I added a further thin nylon washer to the top of the guard to protect the guard from chafing and crushing against the yoke. this was taped to the top of the guard and pierced with a screw driver.

This picture shows the arrangement of washers, thin washer on top, supplied thick washer below. put the side Allen bolts through temporary to align the guard then tighten the top bolt till secure.

Here it is fitted, It looks good and it works very well keeping the front of the bike clean, perhaps I'll repaint the belly pan now!

If I bought a new bike this guard would go on the first day I had it...

The cost of the Guard direct from Sprint manufacturing in 2002 was £85 inc vat and UK delivery
