Scotland 2002

Day1 - Day2 - Day3 - Day4

The ride home.

The morning started well, sunny and warm. Perfect for a ride out. But we were going home. Late yesterday Patto's baffles had broken loose in his exhaust, the noise was amazing. As a "get you home" he tried using part of Kid's exhaust patch kit to keep the baffles in place.

It didn't work!

John kicked it as it shot out of the exhaust when Patto started it up, It was a perfect shot! the metal ring can just be seen on the end of John's boot.

We fuelled up and headed back down the A82 to Tyndrum, Going home is never much fun but at least the scenery is good and the weather is fine.

There were very few bikers here today, not like on the bank holiday Monday when it was quite crowded. Next stop was going to be on the far side of Glasgow at the first services.

We made it over the Erskine Bridge just west of Glasgow when we all stopped to put extra layers on. The weather had changed over the last 50m and it was now cold and windy. Still, we were at least all together :-)

We got through Glasgow mostly thanks to Kid who spotted the sign for M74 and guided us on to the right road. We all agreed to bat on and stop on the A66 Penrith to Scotch Corner road, a good 100m run. Despite the cold and wind we made good time and slipped on to the A66, my fuel was very low so first priority was to find a garage. I looked in the mirror 1,2,3,4 bikes, one missing... Kid!

We pulled in to the first available garage and fuelled up, Kid rang from a motorway service area on the M6; he had stopped to tighten up a fairing bracket on his Gpz, not  a problem. We agreed to meet up at the Little Chef at Appleby for a last cup of coffee before we split up.

Kid was with us in 30 mins and enjoying a hot coffee. From here we rode on to Scotch Corner and went our various ways home. All in all a very good trip spent in very good company. It never rained, every day in Scotland had been lovely and warm, really, you couldn't ask for more :-)

Well that's the last picture of the last page for this trip, Hope you enjoyed reading it.
