Another cultural visit to Prague

The second coming; March 2003

New 04/04/03

Our first visit to Prague in 2002 was so successful that it was felt another trip was required to top up our culture files. So again accommodation was booked through the  M. Long Agency, and flights through easyJet. Amazingly it was all arranged for under £150 for 3 nights. Our hotel was again the U Brany. This is an excellent 4 star establishment and very conveniently located, I thoroughly recommend it.

Looking down on Prague is Prague Castle and St Vitas Cathedral. The view from here is magnificent.

Here's the gang enjoying a drink in the spring sunshine, Prague Castle.

Prague Castle, not sure what this statue represents but it's a good prop for a picture

This is probably the most famous sight in Prague, The Charles Bridge, built in 1342 and just 10 minutes walk from the U Brany Hotel.

Over the bridge you thread your way through to the old town square and the Astronomic Clock. Crowds gather here all day to see the figure of death toll the hour and the 12 apostles to pass behind the top two little windows (under the arched canopy).

Further on in to the new town, and just off Wenceslas Square, we came upon this unusual Bronze of a Czech Knight suspended from an arcade roof. We rather think he had enjoyed too much Prague hospitality!

There is so much to see and do in Prague that we never got to bed before 4am any of the 3 nights. And I think it's fair to say we also probably enjoyed a little too much Prague hospitality!

Here's Patto, it's 4am and he's still checking out the intricate cobbling just off Wenceslas Square.

Likewise, Steve was checking out the fauna, though it's not much to look at in March.

3am "One last drink" Foggy had said, well ok we said...

If you're looking for a good night out in Prague. Can I recommend the Darling Cabaret Club, 32a Ve Smečkách, that's just off Wenceslas Square. at the time of writing it's 200Kč (£4.00) entry. You will have a good time!

Cheers Foggy, for another good trip!
