An excellent write up Martin. It brought back many memories of my 3 previous trips to Norway (haven't yet made it to the Nordkapp) and I thoroughly enjoyed the read and the photo's. I'll definately be doing the Nordkapp trip either in 2008 or 2009. Bizarrely, I hadn't previously heard of the Stalheim Hotel but have saved it as a waypoint for my next trip.

Sorry you guys had such a crap time in Scotland; now you see the rubbish service, crap quality 'fast food' and overly high prices we have to put up with! You should complain, and loudly too, but to those who fail to supply what they offer.
Still, our scenery might have gone some way to recompense you for the less savoury bits of touring Scotland.
Hope your next trip up here proves better.
I'm Scots, and a biker too.

Checked out your site and enjoyed it very much. Thought your Hydraulic Workbench article was excellent. Tried contacting A.R.E.Ltd but they don't seem to exist anymore? (or at least I can't find them) I've decided to order one from Sealey Power, who currently have an offer on the MC390 of £320.49 inc VAT & delivery (best price I could find including ebay)also there's a free gift of a radio controlled car worth £49.95 If anyone is interested here's their web site http://sealeypower.com/item.asp?item_id=127808&prom_id=100028
Cheers
Huw.

Wonderful site - have done much of North America ( Tail of the Dragon/Deals Gap was best by far, second place is West Coast of US/Canada ), but the bike trip on this site reminds me that there are many more roads to ride. Thanks.
